IN THE SIMULATOR

Locus-MPI has three decades of experience using Kongsberg software to support maritime research. Our team builds hydrodynamic ship models and databases utilizing engineering designs, high-resolution photos, satellite imagery from Google Earth, hydrographic data, geographic information systems data, and pilot vetting, all to ensure accuracy and realism.

Locus-MPI maintains a library of over 120 databases and 200 hydrodynamic ship models, most developed by Locus-MPI. These customized ship models and databases can be installed in our in-house full-mission bridge simulator, mobile lab, partner simulators, or in any Kongsberg K-Sim simulator.

We have developed a variety of ship models including:

ON THE WATER

Port St. Tammany Manned Model Training and Research Center, our expansive 6-acre research pond and facility, features a dedicated, customizable waterway – ideal for creating real-world scenarios with 1/25 scale manned models.

  • Customizable Testing Environment:
    Our customizable waterway allows for the creation of unique layouts that mirror real-world scenarios, providing valuable insights for optimizing construction designs and improving waterway efficiency.
  • Precise Data Acquisition:
    Port St. Tammany Center utilizes cutting-edge GPS tracking systems to capture precise data, ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of your research project.
  • Diverse Manned Model Fleet:
    The facility boasts a variety of manned models, including 2 Suezmax-class models and a highly configurable 14,000 TEU containership model that can also be adapted to represent an Azipod-controlled cruise ship. Locus-MPI also has the local resources to have custom vessels built for your project.
